A Unique + Exuberant Bowery Hotel Wedding
The Venue: Bowery Hotel
Jessie and Julian's unique and exuberant Bowery Hotel wedding was an absolute pleasure to design. We love working at this iconic venue, which seamlessly blends old-world charm with modern luxury. The vintage-inspired interiors, rich wood paneling, and plush velvet furnishings provided the perfect backdrop for the playful and dynamic designs we brought to life. To contrast the hotel's classic aesthetic, we infused the space with bold pops of color—vibrant oranges, reds, and pinks—creating an atmosphere that radiated warmth and energy. These lively hues reflected the couple’s fun-loving nature, adding a sense of joy and spontaneity to the timeless setting.
The Paper
Jessie & Julian’s wedding invitations balanced classic elegance with a playful, personal touch through their envelope liners, which featured a funky and fun Italian vintage book motif. Inspired by the rich textures and whimsical illustrations found in old-world Italian book covers, the liner added a burst of character and charm to the refined invitation suite. The design incorporated intricate almost psychedelic patterns which added a quirky and fun detail. Their escort display carried the refined yet playful aesthetic of their wedding invitations into the reception space. The rich, dark navy escort cards provided a striking contrast to the shimmering gold calligraphy, which mirrored the hand-lettered details from their invitations. Each guest’s name was inscribed in modern calligraphy, seamlessly tying together the event’s playful design with the classic backdrop of the Bowery Hotel. This thoughtful display not only guided guests to their seats but also served as a stunning visual moment, blending classic luxury with contemporary charm. The menu’s echoed the invitations but added some modern typography to stand out from the colorful flowers when placed on the tables.
The Ceremony
Jessie & Julian’s ceremony was set against the Bowery’s striking turquoise tiled fireplace, creating a rich and vibrant backdrop for their vows. Their florist framed the fireplace with two elegant urns overflowing with lush pink blooms, adding a soft, romantic contrast to the bold tiles. Instead of a fixed structure, the couple opted for a simple chuppah carried in by friends, allowing the warmth of the florals and the glow of the fireplace to naturally frame the moment. Flickering candlelight enhanced the intimate ambiance, while dark Chiavari chairs blended seamlessly into the space, ensuring all eyes remained on the stunning floral arrangements and the heartfelt ceremony unfolding before them.
The Reception
The reception was a breathtaking transformation, with floral “cloud-like” arrangements suspended from above, creating an ethereal, dreamlike atmosphere. These floating installations featured lush blooms in deeper shades of pinks, purples, whites, and greens, adding depth and romance to the space. Below, tables were set with low floral arrangements in shades of pink and orange, echoing the vibrant hues from the ceremony’s florals. The warm glow of hot pink taper candles and delicate tea lights cast a soft, flickering light across the tables, enhancing the intimate and inviting ambiance. The rich color palette played beautifully against the dark grey linens, tying together the design elements from the escort display. As guests dined beneath the suspended florals, the entire room felt like an enchanted garden in the sky—both dramatic and effortlessly elegant. It was a true showstopper, setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration.
On the balcony, the team extended the feeling of the ballroom's romantic atmosphere by incorporating tenting covered by soft grey draping that seamlessly blended with the space’s design. Playful rice paper lanterns in varying sizes, in shades of white and pink, were strategically placed to create a stunning installation tha contrasted the floral arrangements with their quirky and fun feel. Cozy lounges were introduced with plush modern grey couches, breaking away from the typical Bowery balcony setup and offering guests a comfortable, stylish retreat. This thoughtful integration of color, texture, and lighting ensured the balcony became an extension of the dreamy, intimate celebration, providing a perfect spot for guests to relax and take in the beauty of the night.
The Cake + Other Personal Touches
The cake was a stunning blend of elegance and playful charm, featuring a bright bold blue base adorned with dark pink and light pink flowers also found in their arrangements. A fun and personal touch was added with two whimsical chickens, an inside joke between the couple that brought a lighthearted element to the design. This playful detail perfectly reflected Jessie and Julian’s personalities, showcasing their fun-loving humor.. To honor their families, black and white photos of generations of weddings were hung on the Bowery’s brick wall creating a heartfelt tribute to the couple's shared history. These thoughtful touches not only made the space feel intimate but also deeply connected to the couple’s love story and their family's legacy.
