A Wild + Extravagant Wedding at The Pool + Grill

The Venue

Perri and Jake’s wild and EXTRAvagant wedding took place at The Pool + Grill NYC. The Pool + Grill is situated within the historic Seagram Building. This upscale restaurant, with its “old New York” ambiance, provided the perfect backdrop for a truly memorable wedding celebration. Situated just moments away from the historic Central Synagogue, where the ceremony took place, this iconic venue was perfect for our couple who appreciate incredible food and hospitality. Perri and Jake’s guests were greeted by the sleek and modern lobby featuring pop art and travertine marble. The Pool + Grill boasts floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views of the city skyline. The shimmering pool at the center of the venue added a fun water feature and immediately inspired Jove to enlist one of our favorite installation artists, Josi Blue. The location set the stage for Perri and Jake’s unforgettable evening of festivities that went well into the morning hours!

The Invitations

Perri and Jake decided on digital invitations that echoed the contemporary art showcased at the Pool + Grill. The bride crafted illustrations reminiscent of Roy Lichtenstein's iconic style. The playful pop art injected a distinct charm into the event, setting the tone for a vibrant celebration. The couple further embraced this aesthetic by incorporating it into the seating charts and the Ketubah, capturing Perri and Jake in Lichtenstein's unmistakable flair. The pop art theme seamlessly wove throughout the entire event design.

Jove, in his design, flawlessly blended elements from Keith Haring, Andy Warhol, Robert Indiana, Koons, and Alexander Calder, all while allowing The Pool + Grill's unique ambiance to shine through. Perri and Jake expressed their desire for something completely original, and we delivered an experience that exceeded their expectations.

The Ceremony

The couple's ceremony unfolded at the historic and majestic Central Synagogue, where the architecture of the building provided an unforgettable backdrop for Perri’s entrance in her stunning gown. Designed by Henry Fernbach in the Moorish Revival Style, the synagogue boasts horseshoe arches, colorful stained glass windows, intricate tile work, detailed wood carvings, and painted ceilings. Josi Blue crafted a simple yet stunning chuppah, adorning it with intricate lace fabric to infuse the space with softness and romance. Following the ceremony, guests made their way from the synagogue to the reception.

Cocktail Hour

The Cocktail hour unfolded within the serene and modern ambiance of the Pool, with the focal point being a striking LOVE sign ingeniously crafted by Josi Blue and positioned at the center of the pool. Paying homage to Robert Indiana's renowned statue, the Love sign set the tone for the evening with its playful and modern flair. Giant Andy Warhol-inspired portraits of both Perri and Jake hung from the ceiling, adding to the spectacle. House of Yes “Dinosaurs”, perched on stilts, delighted guests by serving martinis from above as guests mingled.

The atmosphere was further elevated by the guests' embrace of the bride Perri's "extra-af" dress code, which requested guests to dress in black tie to the max. The modern floral arrangements by Forget Me Not Floral sat at the center of cocktail tables, featuring orchids, poppies, and anthurium. Matchbooks and cocktail napkins created by Perri mirrored the portraits of the bride and groom hanging from the ceiling. Tabletops and bars featured napkins with the bride and groom's faces, while Kuntz statues sat atop bars, continuing the modern art theme.

Dinner

Richard Lippold's extraordinary ceiling sculpture at the Grill is a mesmerizing arrangement of suspended metal elements that provided an amazing backdrop for Perri and Jake's dinner. The tables were elegantly set with white linens and adorned with the Pool + Grill's classic table settings. For floral arrangements, Love Me Not Floral was commissioned to craft simple yet impactful designs, adding a sculptural touch to the ambiance. Playful pink mobiles featuring table numbers graced each table, drawing inspiration from Alexander Calder's modern mobiles. Additionally, Julia Bez created pink and white menus adorned with a custom snake with each guest’s name, adding a personalized touch to the dining experience.

Cake

While many couples prioritize the flavor of their wedding cake, Perri and Jake had a unique vision. They saw the cake not just as a dessert but as an opportunity for surprise entertainment. Our team collaborated with House of Yes to create an unforgettable moment during their wedding. They arranged for dancer Ra Ra to pop out of the cake to the tune of "To Be Real," adding a delightful and unexpected twist to their celebration.
As Ra Ra burst out of the cake and began her strip tease performance, the room erupted with excitement, enhanced by the dazzling glow of sparklers. Ra Ra's captivating performance energized the guests, leading them from the dining room to the vibrant after-party space, setting the stage for an unforgettable night of celebration and revelry.

Dancing

For Perri and Jake, prioritizing entertainment meant deviating from the traditional wedding DJ route. They enlisted DJ Katz, a resident of Paul's Baby Grand, to bring a nightclub vibe to The Pool + Grill. Working closely with Jove, they transformed the venue into a pulsating party space. Fusion lighting was brought in to illuminate the room, with a ceiling installation featuring oversized disco balls and tube lighting, adding to the electrifying atmosphere. Neon displays of Keith Haring's iconic artwork adorned the walls, infusing the space with vibrant energy and artistic flair.
