Sweet + Elegant Bowery Hotel Wedding
The Venue: Bowery Hotel
Planning and designing Emma and Edwin’s wedding at The Bowery Hotel was such a special experience. This iconic downtown landmark perfectly captures the magic of New York—equal parts sophistication and soul. Tucked where the East Village meets the Lower East Side, the hotel offers a warm, intimate atmosphere filled with character: vintage furniture, velvet upholstery, and layered textures that feel both refined and inviting. Guests are instantly transported upon entering the lobby, where a crackling fireplace and candlelit corners set the tone for celebration. Known as a gathering place for artists and dreamers, The Bowery embodies the romance of the city itself—an ideal setting for a couple who wanted their loved ones to feel embraced by both comfort and style.
The Paper
Paper details played a starring role in the design of this Bowery Hotel wedding, with artist Julia Bez bringing her signature whimsy and artistry to every piece. The celebration began with a hand-painted invitation suite, featuring delicate florals and a portrait of the couple’s beloved pup—a detail that carried through the day in charming ways. Guests were greeted at the reception by a whimsical escort display, beautifully painted to echo the suite’s playful spirit while guiding everyone to their seats. At the bar, drink signs framed with a bright yellow border and green lettering showcased the couple’s dog once again, adding a joyful, personal touch to cocktail hour. Even the table numbers were designed with levity and fun, blending seamlessly into the overall look while making the dinner setting feel uniquely theirs. Together, these details infused the wedding with character and charm, proving that thoughtful design can be both elegant and deeply personal.
The Ceremony
The Bowery Hotel’s ceremony space was transformed into a garden-like setting with flowers in soft, sunlit tones of yellow and peach. The fireplace, already a dramatic focal point with its rich green tiles, was adorned with an abundant floral installation that seemed to spill effortlessly across the mantel and cascade to the floor. Peach-toned roses and golden blooms mingled with fresh greenery, creating a palette that felt warm, romantic, and full of joy. The colors glowed beautifully against the moody brick walls and velvet draping. The result was a ceremony space that radiated both intimacy and vibrancy—an unforgettable setting for saying “I do.”
As guests turned toward the back of the room, their eyes were met with a second floral moment framing the arched wooden doorway where the couple made their entrance. Lush greenery climbed the brick walls, while grand urns overflowed with blooms in soft peaches, warm yellows, and touches of deep burgundy for contrast. The arrangement felt organic and abundant, echoing the fireplace installation at the front of the room and creating a sense of balance within the space. This thoughtful detail transformed the doorway into a living threshold, making the couple’s entrance feel both dramatic and intimate. As they stepped through, surrounded by flowers and the glow of string lights above, it was a moment of pure magic—an unforgettable beginning to their ceremony.
Dinner
The Bowery Hotel reception space was transformed into a romantic, candlelit dinner that felt both timeless and enchanting. Long banquet tables draped in soft butter-yellow linens glowed warmly under the light, instantly brightening the moody brick-and-velvet backdrop of the room. The cheerful hue set the perfect foundation for the design, allowing the florals in shades of peach, blush, and golden yellow to pop with vibrancy. Airy arrangements danced across the tables alongside glowing taper candles, adding both texture and height. Amber and cut-crystal glassware shimmered in the candlelight, layering richness and warmth into the scene. Above, greenery cascaded from chandeliers and beams, blurring the line between indoors and out and giving the space a lush, garden-like atmosphere. Surrounded by brick walls, twinkling lights, and the glow of candlelight, the room felt at once sophisticated and inviting—an unforgettable setting for celebration.
Other Details
The couple’s cake was a playful nod to one of their favorite details—their beloved pup. Just as Julia Bez had illustrated their dog in the hand-painted invitation suite, the cake echoed that personal touch with a whimsical portrait peeking through the frosting. The design struck a perfect balance between elegant and lighthearted: a classic buttercream finish with a hidden surprise that brought smiles to every guest. It was a sweet reminder of how thoughtfully the couple wove their story into the day, ensuring even their furry family member had a presence in the celebration.
