The Venue: The Grill and The Pool

The venue was a dream for this art-loving couple, and especially for Laura, who grew up surrounded by art and has always had a deep appreciation for the way art and architecture can shape a space. With iconic artwork and distinctive architecture at every turn, the Grill and the Pool already had an incredible visual language, so our goal was to embrace what was there and let it guide the celebration. The Grill offered a rich, sophisticated setting filled with character, while the Pool brought a more playful, modern energy. Rather than transforming the spaces, we designed with them, creating a wedding that felt intentional, collected, and completely their own.

The Ceremony & Cocktail

The ceremony and cocktail hour took place at the Grill, where warm wood and sculptural artwork created a naturally sophisticated backdrop. We brought in deep burgundy and maroon florals, adding richness and romance while complementing the warmth of the space. The chuppah was designed as a continuation of the Richard Lippold sculpture above, creating a beautiful dialogue between the artwork overhead and the ceremony below. The design remained intentionally restrained, allowing the architecture and art to take center stage while the florals added just enough drama. The overall effect was refined and elegant, with a sense of simplicity that made every detail feel considered.

The Dinner

For dinner, guests entered the Pool room and experienced the venue in an entirely new way. The space felt modern, cosmic, and elegant, with a custom sculpture by Josana Blue, inspired by the work of Ruth Asawa, suspended above the pool as the room’s focal point. The florals were equally refined, pairing elegant, soft calla lilies with striking silver anthurium for a look that was simple yet undeniably impactful. Their sculptural shapes echoed the artwork above, creating a subtle connection between the florals, the sculpture, and the architecture of the room. Mirrored tables reflected the light, artwork, and sculpture throughout the room, adding dimension and making the entire space feel almost immersive. The stationery continued that same clean, refined aesthetic—minimal in design, but confident enough to make a statement. Together, the elements created a dinner that felt sophisticated and unexpected while remaining completely connected to the art and architecture of the venue.

Dancing

When it was time to dance, the design took a playful turn while staying rooted in the couple’s love of art. Inspired by the light installations of Dan Flavin, the dance floor became its own luminous work of art, with reflective surfaces and colorful light transforming the room as the night unfolded. We also had a little fun with an “alien” theme. What started as an inside joke became a playful way to bring Alex into the design, adding a dose of personality and whimsy to the otherwise polished aesthetic. A custom DJ setup, illuminated details, sculptural cocktail tables, and glowing lamps layered onto the futuristic atmosphere, while the mirrored dance floor reflected it all back. The result was modern, unexpected, and a little otherworldly—the perfect setting to let loose and celebrate.
