Jove Meyer shares 5 fun DIY Party Ideas with Rachael Ray

Colorful Candy Cake

You can transform a simple grocery store cake into a DIY masterpiece with colorful candy (maybe even leftover from the holidays!) Using a combination of candy in fun patterns, Jove shows Rachael Ray segment how to create this edible art that will wow your guests and be friendly to your wallet. The first step is removing the pre-existing frosting; after that, it is essential to apply additional frosting to act as the “glue” for the candy art. Jove uses jelly beans, colorful cereal, rainbow sprinkles, and orange gumdrops to make his drab grocery store cake truly fab! Have fun experimenting with candy placement to create your tasty work of art.

DIY Balloon Art Photo Wall

This show-stopping balloon wall creates the perfect backdrop for any get-together. Using a budget-friendly balloon animal kitpainter's tape, and Jove's tips and tricks, you can create an incredible and joyful balloon wall that will surely excite your guests. This backdrop also creates visual interest for your get-together and sets the tone! Jove recommends not overfilling your balloons to ensure a flat surface to apply tape and place on the wall. Feel free to adjust the balloons even after you place them on the wall; just make sure not to remove the tape from the balloon itself. Jove also demonstrates how to create curved shapes on this segment. This balloon art photo wall can also be used as a Photo Booth. If you have a Polaroid camera, guests can take photos home as souvenirs.

Creative Party Dessert Plates

Dessert plates are an unexpected place to delight guests when they sit at your table. Two colors of contact paper, scissors, and clear plates are all you need to create a beautiful and playful dessert plate work of art. Cut the contact paper into various flower shapes and use the other color to make the center of the flower. Be sure to check placement before peeling back the adhesive. By placing your one-of-a-kind flower shapes underneath clear dessert plates, you can surprise your partygoers with an original piece of art as they enjoy dessert.

Frosting Place Cards

Create a place card out of icing as a quick and impactful addition to your Dessert Plate decor. All you need is a tube of frosting in the color or colors of your choice to write the names of guests on the top of the plate. This is a great way to assign seats and add personalization to your amazing DIY party. This may seem like a simple idea, but it creates a smooth transition for your guests to take their seats and creates a sense of occasion. By assigning seats, you also encourage conversation between people who otherwise might not sit together. Icebreakers in the center of your table are a plus!

Fun DIY Disco Ball Centerpieces

A centerpiece always packs a punch, making even the simplest dinner party feel like an event. Your ingredients for this project are assorted disco balls, acrylic spray paint, clear gloss, and plastic cups. Jove uses this brand in various complementary colors, but any acrylic spray paint you choose will do. Of course we encourage bold, beautiful colors to adorn your disco ball centerpieces.
