Jason Silverman and Khasan Brailsford

Jason Silverman and Khasan Brailsford

In this heartwarming episode of Weddings-ish with Jove, we’re joined by newlyweds Jason and Khasan—two joyful souls who turned their destination wedding into a three-day celebration of love, friendship, and community. Jason works in HIV prevention and sexual health, while Khasan is a professional dancer and choreographer. Together, they’ve navigated a decade-long love story marked by laughter, adventure, and thoughtful planning.

Their wedding weekend in Tamarindo, Mexico, wasn’t just a single day—it was a festival of connection. The itinerary? A Friday tennis tournament, a vibrant welcome party, Saturday’s emotional ceremony and all-night dance party, and a cheeky "Recovery Beach Club" on Sunday (complete with IV drips and cocktails, of course). Their approach was simple: if guests were traveling all that way, they were going to give them an experience to remember.

Their story is filled with adorable details—like how they scouted over 300 venues (yes, 300!) before landing on Tamarindo. They even gamified their selection process with a secret ballot and post-it notes, only to discover they had the same #1 pick.

The ceremony, officiated by none other than their dear friend Pink, was unforgettable. Think heartfelt storytelling, surprise Speedo props, and irreverent vows involving Beyoncé and Kylie Minogue. “We’re not super serious people,” Jason and Khasan admitted—and their wedding reflected exactly that. Fun, playful, and deeply rooted in love.

They also shared their proposal story—on a catamaran off the coast of Croatia, naturally—how a mosquito bite delayed Jason’s response, and how their engagement spanned a few years (and a couple of Achilles tears!) before finally making it down the aisle.

From their long table dinner lit by the Mexico sunset to their color-coded seating chart and wild-card “superstar” guests, Jason and Khasan poured intention into every detail. But the biggest takeaway? Weddings should feel like you. Whether you’re silly and sentimental, spontaneous or strategic, the most meaningful weddings are the ones that let your love—and your community—shine.

We’re not super serious people… we’re stupid silly, and we wanted our wedding to feel like us.” – Jason & Khasan
