West Coast Wonders at Pelican Hill

It’s always special when we are able to travel for love! With the warmth of summer going strong, we are reminded of our days spent on the west coast among the ocean breezes and the botanic beauty of southern California. It was such a joy to work with the couple and their planner, Quintessentially Weddings, to design a day that reflected the cool California aesthetic, both inviting and organic in its beauty.

It’s nearly impossible not to be inspired by the California coastline, and we took that inspiration and ran with it. With the ceremony and reception taking place at the majestic Resort at Pelican Hill, a location full of natural charm, we found and created beauty at every turn. At the start of the event, guests traveled along winding pathways through a discovery of archways leading to the ceremony space. Once there, an intimate cluster of white vintage sofas and surrounding sea grasses cocooned guests in love. A romantic arch with pink and white tones grounded the couple directly in front of the pergola where they said their vows. And beyond the brilliance of the couple was the vast view of the Pacific, majestic and awe inspiring.

Archways in the design were plentiful and diverse, ranging from a makeup of soft greenery, romantic reds and bright color pops. There were a total of 5 archways displayed within the ceremony, reception, and even a full circle archway as part of the escort card display. As a special touch, each escort card was made of seed paper, a fun detail and gift for each guest. Each arch was a unique work of art by the talented Jenn Chez Design, with wild greenery and robust florals that we adore.

The couple’s love for California’s natural beauty and bounty came through in the reception and table design. Linens ranged from natural tones to delicate turquoises, while deep blue chairs grounded the space in bold beauty. Clear place settings with accents of gold in the silverware and glassware allowed the colorful florals to pop. And above, rattan chandeliers added that touch of casual California style. The couple’s personal touch was found in the addition of fresh colorful produce in the floral displays and table names, reflecting the couple’s love for fruit. Every inch of the bright design was meant to reflect the abundance and bounty of California harvests and natural wonders.

This experience has been an inspiring opportunity to highlight our full wedding design services, where we partner with planners who focus on logistics while we stick to the design details and act as creative director of the day. While we normally manage all aspects of planning, our design only services allow us to source and manage the overall creative vision, showcasing the artistic elements of lighting, rentals, florals and stationery. The design process is so magical and it’s such a joy to see it all come together on the big day!
