Welcome Party
The Wooly was the perfect place to kick off this wedding weekend, setting the tone for a celebration that felt relaxed, personal, and unmistakably downtown. Tucked inside the iconic Woolworth Building in Lower Manhattan, the historic venue brought plenty of old-school New York character, from its rich architectural details to its vintage-inspired interiors and cool, lived-in atmosphere. Rather than compete with a space that already had so much personality, we let it shine, adding colorful, sculptural florals and personal touches that made the evening feel distinctly theirs. Personalized cocktails, casual food stations, a build-your-own sundae bar, and even a classic trolley ride turned the welcome party into something more like a great night out with friends than a formal wedding event. It was stylish, spirited, and the perfect introduction to the weekend ahead.
The Ceremony
For the ceremony, we shifted into the Bowery Hotel, where the exposed brick, warm wood ceiling beams, oversized industrial windows, and deep green drapery provided a naturally beautiful backdrop. At the center of the room, the fireplace became the focal point, framed by an abundance of greenery and expressive florals. Organic arrangements lined the aisle, creating the feeling of a garden growing right into the architecture, while candlelight and a glowing chandelier added warmth and intimacy. We wanted the design to feel connected to the space rather than imposed on it, allowing the historic downtown character of the venue to meet a romantic, garden-inspired aesthetic. The result was a ceremony that felt personal, atmospheric, and full of life.
The Dinner
As guests moved into dinner, we carried that garden-inspired vision overhead and onto the tables, creating a reception that felt lush, romantic, and a little dramatic. Long tables dressed in rich emerald green linens anchored the room, topped with loose, low arrangements of delicate white blooms, soft blush accents, and deep red roses. Above, cascading greenery and strands of lavender wisteria transformed the exposed wood beams into an overhead garden, bringing the outdoors inside in a way that felt immersive without being overdone. Tall red taper candles added striking pops of color and height, their warm glow playing against the layered florals and deep green palette. Classic white place settings, polished glassware, and understated tabletop details kept everything feeling considered and refined, allowing the flowers, foliage, and candlelight to take center stage.
The Details
That same attention to detail continued throughout the celebration, with personal moments and thoughtful design touches connecting every part of the experience. From the moment guests arrived, greenery and florals appeared throughout the venue, softening the brick and wood architecture and creating a sense of stepping into another world. The escort card display was a statement in its own right, featuring sculptural, curved panels in rich shades of red, green, and warm neutrals that turned a practical detail into an artful installation. Nearby, NYC-inspired postcards gave guests a personal way to leave messages and well wishes in the guest book. Even the cake kept things beautifully simple: a naked cake finished with delicate floral accents that picked up on the blooms used throughout the design. Every element had a purpose, and together they created a celebration that felt cohesive, thoughtful, and deeply connected to nature, with plenty of personality woven in along the way.
