Planners Dining Club: Shades of Blue at Union Park

Discovering new and exciting event spaces is one of the perks of our job! That’s why we were so thrilled to connect with the newer event space Union Park for our first cocktail style Planners Dining Club. We loved the relaxed, mid-century modern atmosphere of the space and had such a fun time letting our creativity run wild. If you know us, you know we love a tiled floor, and Union Park’s blue and white floor tiles had a part in all aspects of the design. We allowed the color blue found in the tiles to drive the vision, from the florals to the menus.

Mimosa Floral did what they do best and created an awe-inspiring install. Utilizing a large blank wall within the space, the Mimosa team brought to life a giant blue wave of greenery. They spent hours spray painting every section and artfully constructing the piece, and the result was unlike anything we had ever seen. Bud vases and additional blue florals adorned the rest of the space. Together the effect was spectacular.

We can’t resist an oversized mirror, so we played with the two they had in-house, adding our own flair to the design with personalized decals. One read “Drink your juiceShelby!”, as a nod to the classic Steel Magnolias. And the other was our own personal mantra of empowerment that said, “You do you boo!”. Hexagon acrylic menus created by Fourteen-Forty suspended above the food stations and bar in various shades of blue, tying to the geometric tile work and blue theme of the design. Our vendor partners never cease to amaze us with their work, and we had so much fun focusing our design attention to all aspects of the space.

Elegant Affairs created delicious masterpieces for the more casual cocktail style affair. With mini cheese plates, personal sized ramen noodles, and a fabulous Brazilian meat station, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Such an impressive and flavorful contribution to the evening. We loved exploring this brand new event space and creating a blue night of relaxed enjoyment for our industry friends and colleagues.
