Planners Dining Club: Moody Romance at Norwood
With Valentine’s Day approaching, we’re reminiscing on our sexy and moody Planners Dining Club held at the intimate and exclusive Norwood. During this week where we celebrate love, we hope you’re as inspired by the dark romance and eclectic creative evening as we were.
Norwood is an historic gem in the heart of Chelsea featuring Victorian architecture, eclectic design, and a beautifully curated art collection. Every inch of the space oozes with inspiration, making it the perfect location for event creatives. For this romantic Planners Dining Club we aimed to make use of as many chic corners of the club as we could, hosting cocktail hour on one floor, dinner in their intimate dining space, and dessert and dancing on a third floor. Their dining room specifically served as the perfect space for our intimate dinner with its smaller nooks and dark color palette.
The fireplaces throughout the club are particularly spectacular, and we knew immediately that we wanted to feature them as a focal point. Alma Floral Design artfully adorned the mantels with edgy floral vignettes. A collection of roses in the quintessentially romantic hues of pink, red, and white were paired unexpectedly with the quirky, deep red anthurium in floral bursts throughout the room, adding further interest to the space.
We don’t always have the opportunity to work with darker color palettes or black as a feature hue, so we took full creative advantage of the opportunity and our team made some magic. Our stationery partner, Fourteen Forty featured the palette with black and gold hand crafted invitations and menus. The luxurious velvet texture of the envelopes combined with the golden calligraphy and wax seal were beyond sexy. We took the black coloring of the design further using matte black plates and black and gold cutlery. Against the red velvet banquettes of Norwood, we had a tablescape that invited intimate moments and great conversation.
We love the way in which cocktail hour can be both interactive and sophisticated, so we brought in a craft cocktail company, Muddling Memories, to create a memorable experience for our guests. With flavors of smoked cinnamon and maple, cocktail hour set the tone for an evening of unexpected delight. Norwood’s menu was also both creative and unexpected. With entirely allergy friendly ingredients they highlighted their varied and sophisticated talents in the kitchen while satisfying our tastebuds. Small bite desserts were also beyond delicious and allergy friendly so that all could enjoy.
Amidst the distinctive victorian architecture and eclectic art pieces we created an ambiance of intimacy, creativity and community. It was a night to be remembered, with music and joy and true connection. We are thankful to One Night Cereus who captured every moody and imaginative corner, every intimate and delicious moment.
