A Magical + Modern Wedding in Mallorca at La Residencia

The Venue: Belmond La Residencia

For our couples destination wedding, we chose the stunning Belmond La Residencia in Mallorca to create a magical, modern celebration that felt effortlessly elevated yet deeply romantic. Between the Tramuntana mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, this iconic venue exudes timeless charm with its honey-stone walls, terraced gardens, and breathtaking views of the village of Deià. The property’s blend of rustic Mallorcan architecture and contemporary art provided the perfect canvas for a modern design vision—where clean lines met natural textures, and every detail felt intentional. From intimate garden ceremonies framed by olive trees to candlelit dinners overlooking the mountains, Belmond La Residencia offered an atmosphere of both serenity and sophistication, making it the ultimate backdrop for an unforgettable celebration in Mallorca.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was meant feel modern, sculptural, and deeply connected to the natural beauty of Mallorca. Crisp white chairs framed a grass aisle lined with soft, cloud-like clusters of white blooms that spilled organically along the ground, creating a sense of movement and airiness. At the end of the aisle, we placed two asymmetrical floral pillars composed entirely of white flowers — a textured mix of roses, hydrangeas, and ranunculus — that rose organically toward the palm tree anchoring the ceremony. The palette was intentionally restrained, allowing tone and texture to do the work of color, while the modern silhouette of the seating and floral architecture brought a refined, contemporary contrast to the lush Mediterranean garden and dramatic mountain backdrop. The result was a ceremony design that felt both minimal and magical — clean, fresh, and perfectly in dialogue with its surroundings.

Cocktail Hour

We designed the cocktail hour to be like a natural exhale after the ceremony — relaxed, sun-soaked, and full of life. Set on a stone terrace surrounded by olive trees and blooming gardens, guests sipped cocktails beneath wide white umbrellas and settled into woven lounge seating that blended seamlessly with the surroundings. A guitarist played softly in the background, adding a warm, romantic rhythm to the evening, while the Belmond staff moved gracefully through the space with trays of beautifully presented appetizers — each bite as refined as the setting itself. The natural stone bar tucked under the trees served as both a focal point and a gathering place, its textures echoing the landscape’s rustic elegance. Every detail was designed to feel effortless — soft light, earthy materials, and a gentle flow that encouraged conversation and connection as the sun dipped behind the mountains.

Dinner

As the sun began to dip behind the mountains, guests were welcomed to dinner beneath a floating installation of cascading white ribbons that danced gently in the breeze. The tablescape was designed to mirror the lightness and movement of the canopy above — round tables dressed in soft white linen, accented with modern ghost chairs and low, cloud-like floral arrangements. Jove created an incredible shape with the tables. The palette stayed tonal and refined, allowing texture and form to create visual depth: airy blooms, slender candleholders, and subtle layers of glass and fabric that caught the shifting light. The ribbons overhead shimmered as golden hour set in, creating a dreamy sense of motion that made the entire terrace feel alive. It was a setting that invited guests to linger — intimate yet open, modern yet romantic — perfectly balancing the charm of the historic stone terrace with the ease and elegance of a Mediterranean evening.

The Cake and Other Details

Dozens of glass hurricanes lined the stone balustrades and staircases, their flickering flames reflecting against the rustic walls and cobblestone paths. Overhead, woven pendants glowed softly through vines and greenery, casting gentle, organic shadows that danced with the breeze. The atmosphere shifted from bright and airy to intimate and cinematic — a romantic continuation of the day’s design, now wrapped in warmth and light.

At the center of this evening glow stood the cake — a sculptural, three-tier creation that embodied modern simplicity. Its sleek white surface featured subtle textural ridges, adding dimension under the candlelight. A cascade of fresh white roses climbed delicately along one side, creating a sense of effortless movement. Set against the stone backdrop and surrounded by glowing candles, the cake became a luminous focal point — elegant, architectural, and perfectly in harmony with the romantic ambiance of the night.
