A Very Fabulous Bowery Hotel Wedding for Jove + Kyle
The Venue: Bowery Hotel
Jove and Kyle chose The Bowery Hotel together because it felt like the perfect reflection of their love story and their shared connection to New York City. The venue’s rich history, classic New York charm, impeccable service, and incredible food all spoke to their values and aesthetic. But beyond that, The Bowery offered something rare—a space iconic enough to feel special, yet open enough for reinvention. Together, they saw the opportunity to honor the city's legacy while creating something entirely new. It was a chance for Jove to design the space in a way it had never been done before, transforming a beloved New York landmark into a deeply personal and one-of-a-kind celebration of their love. While Jove planned and designed it the amazing Viva Max Kaley assisted by Chelsea Brooke Events made sure the day-of went smoothly!
Getting Ready
Jove and Kyle got ready together in their suite at The Bowery Hotel, surrounded by love, laughter, and a sense of calm excitement. The space, with its classic New York charm and cozy elegance, provided the perfect backdrop for these intimate pre-wedding moments. SB Beauty was on hand to ensure both grooms looked and felt their absolute best, enhancing their natural features with subtle, camera-ready touches. Friends stopped by to help them get dressed, share a toast, and soak in the joy of the day!
The Paper
The wedding stationery for Jove Meyer and Kyle Torrence, designed in collaboration with Both NYC, was a vibrant and joyful preview of the weekend to come. The suite featured bold, saturated colors—electric blue, mustard yellow, hot pink, and red—paired with holographic foil lettering that shimmered with celebration. Checkerboard patterns added a playful, graphic punch, while the custom matchbox with a cartoon illustration of Jove and Kyle brought a sweet and personal touch that tied into the ceremony decor. Each piece of the suite was thoughtfully crafted to reflect the tone of the weekend: fun, stylish, and deeply intentional. From the welcome cocktails at Hotel Chelsea to the Bowery Hotel wedding and Celestine brunch, the events were clearly laid out with flair and function. Guests were also directed to a custom wedding website created by Polk Paper, where they could RSVP and find all the weekend details in one beautifully designed, easy-to-navigate space.
Guests entered the celebration by walking up the stairs to The Bowery’s event space through an immersive installation inspired by the Sunken Forest in Fire Island—the magical place where Jove and Kyle shared their first kiss. It was a lush, sentimental entry that immediately grounded the night in personal meaning. At the top of the stairs, guests were greeted by an incredible escort display: bold blue vinyl names beautifully applied to the venue’s iconic windows, catching the light and guiding everyone to their seats with style. Jove had collaborated closely with their stationer on the wedding invitations, which set the tone for the entire event—thoughtful, artful, and completely unique. That same design language carried through to the welcome sign, which paired perfectly with the hand-painted tropical plants. The installation created a colorful, sculptural, and joyful welcome moment, inviting guests into the world of Jove and Kyle with heart, creativity, and a healthy dose of fun.
The Looks
Jove and Kyle’s wedding fashion was a perfect expression of their personalities and their love for style. Each groom embraced his individual aesthetic, creating a beautiful visual contrast. Jove collaborated with Wiederhoeft to design a custom all-white look that was both romantic and playful—hand-beaded with delicate floral motifs and bows that added a subtle, joyful texture. Underneath, he wore a silver base layer that shimmered just enough and allowed him to transition seamlessly to the dance floor later that night. Kyle, wore a custom Tom Ford, highlighting his signature love of all things black—a funny and charming difference between the two. He paired his look with a deeply meaningful accessory: his grandfather’s watch, a nod to legacy and love across generations. The Stylish Bride made sure the couple’s outfits were perfect and ready for them to wear.
The Ceremony
For the first time in Bowery Hotel wedding history, the ceremony took place in the main room—a bold and deeply personal choice by Jove and Kyle that set the tone for an unforgettable celebration. Clear ghost chairs lined the space, offering a modern, minimal touch that let the design shine. On one wall hung a playful banner with a cartoon portrait of the couple, setting a joyful and welcoming mood. At the center stood a custom yellow scalloped platform, surrounded by vibrant blue flowers that seemed to rise straight from the floor—an awe-inspiring floral moment crafted in collaboration with the visionary team at Mimosa Floral. The chandeliers were transformed with colorful glass accents, casting jewel-toned light throughout the space and creating an entirely new energy within the historic room. The iconic Bowery windows were covered in vinyl to mimic stained glass in shades of pink, purple, and blue, flooding the ceremony with a dreamlike glow installed and printed by Bombshell Graphics.
Jove’s dearest friend Megan officiated the ceremony, which was filled with meaningful, emotional moments and just the right amount of laughter. Special musical performances accompanied the vows, and a touching knot-tying ritual—led by their close friend Kyle and his partner in kilts—honored the power of chosen family. The ceremony wasn't just a celebration; it was a story. Guests were guided through the meaning behind the design, which traced Jove and Kyle’s love story from the enchanted Sunken Forest to their present-day life in Fire Island. Every element, from the décor to the music to the movement of the ceremony itself, was a reflection of who they are—romantic, creative, and completely in love.
Cocktail Hour
During cocktail hour, guests spilled out onto the charming terrace of The Bowery Hotel, soaking in the summer air and the buzz of celebration. Mimosa Floral seamlessly blended their bright, joyful blooms into the existing Bowery landscaping, adding vibrant color in a way that felt completely natural—like the flowers had always been part of the space. Fun, punchy pillows lined the banquette seating, creating cozy, stylish pockets for guests to gather and mingle. The food was as playful as it was elevated, with trays of French fries and caviar circulating alongside an array of delicious bites. Inside, the front bar was brought to life with the stunning, hand-painted work of Wife NYC, whose intricate designs on leaves added an artistic, almost tropical flair to the space. It was a cocktail hour full of delight, where every detail reflected Jove and Kyle’s signature mix of fun, flair, and thoughtfulness.
Dinner
The dinner portion of the evening was a stunning ode to nature, blue ceiling install representing clouds in the sky and the tables flowers on the earth , bringing Jove’s signature mix of whimsy and sophistication to life. The dinner space was completely transformed thanks to breathtaking ceiling draping by Quest Events, designed by Tine and immersive lighting design by Stortz Lighting, creating an entirely new world that felt intimate, ethereal, and full of magic. For another Bowery Hotel first, the iconic fireplace room was used for dinner and completely reimagined as a reflection of Jove’s vibrant vision. Custom butters shaped like seashells, playful striped linens in rich greens and blues from Something Vintage Rentals, and florals arranged in hand-painted vases brought Jove’s signature rainbow palette into the space in a fresh, european inspired way. Every detail felt deeply intentional and joyful.
At the heart of it all, this was more than a wedding—it was a radiant celebration of being gay and of LGBTQ+ love, expressed unapologetically and beautifully. The room held a powerful mix of elegance and emotion, and the speeches reflected that depth. One of the most moving moments came from Jove’s brother Ares, who spoke tenderly about protecting Jove growing up, offering a glimpse into the kind of unconditional love that shaped the person Jove is today. It was a moment that underscored the night’s true spirit: joy, authenticity, and the power of chosen and blood family coming together to celebrate love in all its forms.
Dancing
Guests were then invited to make their way from dinner into yet another completely transformed space for dancing—and it was nothing short of spectacular. Stortz Lighting brought the party to life with an epic disco ball installation, using lighting trusses to suspend disco balls of all shapes and sizes over the dance floor, casting shimmering light across the room and setting the tone for a high-energy celebration. The furniture was wrapped in playful silver fabric, creating a fun, futuristic lounge vibe for guests to relax between songs. The DJ James Mulry spun a curated mix of Jove and Kyle’s favorite tracks, keeping the dance floor full all night long. In true Jove fashion, even the dessert display was a moment of joyful nostalgia: The Bowery’s iconic pool table was reimagined as a chic, indulgent dessert station, featuring elevated versions of Jove’s favorite childhood snacks from The Treatery — offering guests a sweet, sentimental surprise to end the night on a delicious high.
Afterparty
The celebration didn’t stop after the last dance—in true Jove and Kyle fashion, the night continued with an unforgettable afterparty. Jove transformed The Bowery’s front bar into a loving homage to Marie’s Crisis, the legendary West Village piano bar, where show tunes and community collide. Guests gathered around a live piano player, belting out Broadway classics with heart and humor, creating a warm, nostalgic, and hilariously joyful vibe that only a true New York wedding could deliver. To keep the energy high, guests were treated to some of the couple’s favorite late-night bites, including McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets and caviar along side hot, cheesy slices from Joe’s Pizza. It was the perfect mix of theatrical, sentimental, and just plain fun—a final chapter to a night full of love, laughter, and iconic moments.
