A Funky + Fabulous Wythe Hotel Wedding
The Venue
It was an incredible honor to design and plan Jenn and Darren's funky and fabulous wedding at the Wythe Hotel. The Wythe Hotel, a former factory transformed into a chic boutique hotel, is located in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Known for its industrial charm and stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, the hotel offers a blend of historic architecture and modern luxury. It houses several popular dining spots, including Le Crocodile, a French-inspired brasserie known for its elevated yet approachable cuisine, and Bar Blondeau, a rooftop bar offering inventive cocktails, natural wines, and breathtaking panoramic views. Unlike the more traditional Wythe weddings that usually take place in their designated event spaces, we went beyond the ordinary by taking over the hotel's stunning cellar spaces, Bar Blondeau, and Le Crocodile. These spaces are normally bustling with locals and visitors alike, but for Jenn + Darren’s wedding it was closed to the public. This allowed us to craft a completely unique experience for the couple and their guests, transforming the spaces into something modern, playful, and personal. The vibe of Williamsburg was woven into every detail, creating a one-of-a-kind celebration that reflected Jenn and Darren's fun-loving personalities. With a focus on creativity and flair, we designed an atmosphere that was as bold and lively as the couple themselves, breaking away from convention to offer an unforgettable wedding experience.
The Paper
Emily Baird designed modern and chic invitations in a striking black and white palette, accented with gold and a funky green geometric pattern. Drawing inspiration from the wedding's location at Le Crocodile, the crocodile motif became a key element of the event's branding, even featuring on the welcome bags. An embossed crocodile added a subtle yet elegant touch, perfectly complementing the fun geometric design. The event's playful spirit came to life with cocktail napkins adorned with disco balls, crocodiles, the cityscape, and the artwork of XX Venue. To tie in the textures of Le Crocodile's bar, marble table numbers were selected, adding a refined, tactile element. Escort cards, presented as individual green tiles, created a unique and visually striking display for guests to find their seating, enhancing the overall modern and stylish atmosphere.
The Ceremony
The ceremony unfolded in the Wythe Hotel's hidden gem—the lesser-known cellar area—creating an intimate and unique setting. Before the ceremony, guests were welcomed into the hotel’s cozy movie theater, where they enjoyed popcorn and champagne, setting a playful and celebratory tone. As Jenn and Darren’s favorite movies played on the theater screen, it added a fun, creative twist that gave guests a deeper glimpse into the couple's journey. For the ceremony itself, Mimosa Floral transformed the space with an installation of white and green grasses adorning the walls, creating a romantic yet distinctive backdrop for Jenn and Darren to exchange their vows.
Cocktail Hour
After the ceremony, guests were guided to the hotel’s iconic rooftop bar, Bar Blondeau, where they were greeted by stunning panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline. As they admired the breathtaking scenery, they discovered their escort cards, elegantly laid out, while savoring the bar’s signature cocktails. Mimosa adorned the bars with modern yet festive arrangements. The combination of sweeping views, creative cocktails, and the lively atmosphere made for a memorable transition from the ceremony to the celebration.
Reception
The reception was held downstairs at Le Crocodile, where guests were greeted by an unexpected and whimsical surprise: Dr. Seuss-inspired florals in bold shades of blue, red, and green cascading from the ceiling, adding a fantastical touch to the elegant setting. The vibrant blue chairs infused a bit of NYC flair, while the tables maintained a sleek, modern aesthetic, perfectly balancing playfulness with sophistication. As guests marveled at the imaginative décor, they indulged in Le Crocodile's renowned cuisine and impeccable service, elevating the evening with a culinary experience for the food loving couple and their nearest and dearest.
The Afterparty
The after-party took place just down the street at the neighboring XX Venue, where the couple wowed their guests with breathtaking views of Manhattan through the expansive windows, paired with a striking all-white décor. Mimosa Floral elevated the space with a captivating fringe installation, draping vibrant strands from the ceiling. Colorful tube lights bathed the room in dynamic hues, while disco ball sculptures and funky white furniture in bold, creative shapes added to the playful, modern vibe. Pinch Catering amazed everyone with their whimsical churros served from umbrellas, making the night even more memorable. With the DJ spinning high-energy tracks, guests danced the night away!
