A Whimsical and Charming Bowery Hotel Wedding
The Venue: Bowery Hotel
It was so lovely planning and designing this whimsical and charming Bowery Hotel wedding for our couple! The Bowery is a quintessential New York gem, blending timeless elegance with downtown edge. Located where the East Village meets the Lower East Side, it offers a warm, lived-in luxury with vintage furnishings, Persian rugs, and rich velvet textures throughout. The lobby feels like an old-world salon, inviting guests to linger by the fireplace with a cocktail in hand. Beloved by artists, creatives, and romantics alike, The Bowery Hotel is both a retreat from the city and a celebration of its spirit. It was the perfect choice for Emma + Edwin who wanted their guests to feel comfortable and welcome!
The Paper
Emily Baird created whimsical stationery for the celebration, featuring hand-drawn illustrations and watercolor renderings of the Bowery Hotel. The invitation included a charming striped liner and a stunning illustration of the hotel, which also appeared on the menu. A playful checkerboard pattern added a sweet yet modern touch, while hand-drawn lettering enhanced the overall whimsical feel. Purple and orange were used prominently throughout the paper suite, bringing a vibrant and cohesive palette. As a nod to the couple’s love for movies, escort cards took the form of "Admit One" tickets, blending sentiment with creativity.
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place in the intimate Fireplace Room, where the hearth was beautifully adorned with lush greenery and vibrant florals in shades of orange, pink, and white—mirroring the invitation suite’s palette. Arrangements of spray roses, hydrangea, and ranunculus added texture and romance, while dark Chiavari chairs lined the aisle, lending a timeless, classic feel. Overhead, string lights added a soft, charming glow, while an abundance of candles on the floor and nestled in the fireplace created a warm, moody ambiance. As the couple and their families entered through the archway, they were greeted by an additional floral installation bursting with greenery—a stunning, immersive moment that framed their entrance and created yet another beautiful, photographable scene.
Dinner
For dinner and dancing, we opted for long tables dressed in classic white linens, creating a timeless foundation for the vibrant details layered on top. Bud vases filled with blooms in shades of pink and purple were thoughtfully color-blocked between tables, offering a playful yet elegant touch. Soft pink taper candles added a romantic glow, while an abundance of greenery suspended from the ceiling transformed the space into a warm, inviting oasis—enveloping guests in an atmosphere that felt both intimate and celebratory.
Other Details
Other fun and personal details made this wedding especially memorable. An old-fashioned phone invited guests to record voice notes for the couple, creating an audio guestbook filled with heartfelt messages. A classic photo booth offered playful moments and keepsakes, while the couple changed into matching sneakers for dancing—labeled “Mr.” and “Mrs.”—adding a relaxed and joyful touch to the evening. Their favorite cake, adorned with fresh berries, reflected their taste and tradition, and was topped with two adorable penguin figurines, a sentimental nod to a shared inside joke and a symbol of their bond.
